The Puerto Rico earthquakes started on December 28th, 2019 and since then there have been 500 earthquakes of magnitudes 2 or greater have rattled the area and 32 of those were above a magnitude of 4. The worse earthquake they’ve gotten was a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that knocked out the whole island’s power. It’s estimated that $90 billion will be spent by Puerto Rico to fix the damage done by the earthquakes. It’s likely that there will be 40 to 230 earthquakes in the next week with magnitudes of 3 or higher.
Hurricane Dorian
Hurricane Dorian was a category 5 hurricane that hit the Bahamas really hard. The hurricane started to form on August 24th, 2019 and lasted 17 days then ended on September 10th. Hurricane Dorian has killed at least 70 people. The hurricane winds were peaking at 185 mph. The damage in the Bahamas will cost an estimated 3.4 billion dollars to fix.
The Australian wild fires
Australia is being destroyed by the worst wildfires ever. 17.9 acres of Astralia is on fire and 2000 homes have been destroyed.the fires have killed over 27 people and over 1 billion animals have been lost. The fires have made the air in Sydney so bad that the skies are orange which looks cool but breathing in the air is as bad as smoking 37 cigarettes. In Australia, 24 people were arrested for arson some were accidents like throwing a lit cigarette in a dry area. There was also a lighting bolt that started another part of the fire when it hit a dry Forrest. Australia’s government has made a National bushfire recovery agency to help fund fire relief and payment to all the volunteer firefighters, some have spent months helping.
